Wondering how to get through this IEP season? We have the answers! On Thursday, December 9, Undivided held a Q&A session with IEP Specialist and Navigator, Lisa Carey, where she answered parents’ top IEP questions. Check out the answers to the three most-asked questions here!

1. What is the difference between a 504 and an IEP?

2. My child is not meeting their goals. What should I do?

3, What can I do if I disagree with the IEP?

If you skipped assessments or had to do virtual assessments due to the pandemic, remember that you can request assessments at any time! Find out when your IEP meeting is scheduled, then send an email to request the assessments you feel your child needs. Don’t worry too much about the particular reason for the assessment, and keep it simple — most schools are aware of the missed or virtual assessments that need to be redone. Most importantly, if a triennial was skipped, be sure to get the academic testing done! If you don’t reschedule your missed triennial, your child’s academic assessment may not be brought up until your next triennial, which leaves 6 years of missed testing.
